U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) provided the following statement after submitting a Motion to Table on S. 2333 – Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Response Act (PAHPA) during a Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee markup today.
“PAHPA is the foundation of America’s national health security, and as such, this legislation deserves a robust conversation with all members of the HELP Committee. Created in the wake of September 11th and the 2001 anthrax attacks, these vital programs will shape our response to any future national security threats. Unfortunately, this bill was brought before the Committee without a CBO score, and significant revisions were made to the text with insufficient time for members to review. As a result, I opted to cast a ‘present’ vote today, as I firmly believe that our nation’s preparedness necessitates careful and thoughtful deliberation.”
